At first it was the price that kept me from ordering the Wen System but the commercials convinced me that I really, really needed it. My hair is shiny, somewhat manageable, but I wanted spectacular. After all, I owe it to my readers (snicker here). I did not, however, want to put myself in debt forever. But, one fine day, after seeing the commercial for the zillionth time, I decided to take the plunge. I can always discontinue the subscription, right? Right.
Got the package and was surprised at how small the bottles were, this is supposed to be a month’s supply? Started comparing the ingredients in the Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner with my regular conditioner. I use Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Conditioner that has essential oils and botanical ingredients and works great and only costs $4.00 for 9 oz. and if I feel the need for Shea butter I love Shea Moisture’s Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque for $12.00 for 12 oz. Both products did the same job as the Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner, costs a lot less and lasts longer. My bottle of Wen’s only lasted about a week and a half following Chaz’s directions in his video.
If you check the ingredients you like in Wen’s products, I advise you to check out other products with the same ingredients and you might like them as much and save some money in the bargain.
All in all, the Wen products do work well, but so do a large variety of products currently on the market these days that are far less expensive. Also Wen products are advertised to be a month’s worth of shampoo/conditioner and as mentioned above, I barely made it a week and a half. My hair was soft, shiny and smelled delicious but my hair is shiny and soft and smells great with my regular shampoo/conditioner products as well.
I, as you may have guessed, am sticking to my regular shampoos and conditioners for now. If you absolutely adore the Wen product line, or if you like something you think is either similar or better, tell me. I’m not knocking the product but before I buy Wen again I want a lower pricetag and a larger bottle.
Looking forward to your take on this product.
